The Sixth APEC Education Ministerial Meeting (6AEMM) It was held on October, 5-6 2016 in Lima Peru. It was chaired by Peru and Co-chair by Russia.

Outcomes

Ministers adopted the 6th APEC Education Ministerial Meeting Joint Statement :

“An Inclusive and Quality Education” which it is focus in boosting productivity and people’s livelihoods across the region amid the evolution of the globalization economy. Also, describes collaborative actions to be taken onward by economies to enhance competencies, innovation and employability of the region’s work forces.

Ministers endorsed the APEC Education Strategy :

The AES envisages that APEC by 2030 will have a strong and cohesive education community characterised by inclusive and quality education that supports sustainable economic growth, social wellbeing and employability of men and women in APEC economies. To accomplish the vision, economies have agreed to work collaboratively to advance actions to realise the following three objectives: Competencies, Innovation and Employability.

Ministers adopted, as a contribution to the Leaders’ Declaration 2 paragraphs which highlight the importance of continuing to work an inclusive and quality education and improving education in the Asia Pacific Region under the principles established in the APEC Education Strategy.
