In keeping with the pace of economic integration and accelerating globalization over the past decade, needs for quality education and innovative
Human Resources Development (HRD) have increased on societal, national and international level. Moreover, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is
changing the nature of jobs, which may result in declined employment in some areas. To cope with such challenges, APEC economies have been
steadily developing education policy and curriculum as well as accumulating innovative experiences. In this connection, there is a need among
APEC economies to share innovative experiences, which have been instrumental in providing tangible achievements. EDNET’s 2017 Education
Strategy has made educational innovation a major goal. In order to enhance this goal, the Republic of Korea seeks to initiate the APEC
for Education Innovation: Joint Research and Implementation to Enhance Innovative Practices in Education and HRD (APEC CEDI).
APEC CEDI will serve as a forum for member economies to conduct joint research on promising innovative educational practices,
and also to find practical application in public-private sectors.
