[2015 ALCoB Internet Volunteers Program in Kuala L...

[2015 ALCoB Internet Volunteers Program in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia]
On August 15, an ALCoB Internet Volunteers (AIV) team from the Republic of Korea was dispatched to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to conduct an educational and cultural exchange program. Workshops and sessions during the AIV program were mainly focus on the use of ICT in practical teaching field. Teachers from Korea shared the excellent Korean educational policies and teaching methods of applying ICT and sought the best way to implement such educational tools in Malaysian teaching environment.
Sixteen governmental officials, seven professors, and sixteen teachers from Malaysia have attended the program and expressed their satisfaction towards the project. One of the professors stated that “I was thoroughly impressed by how Korean educators are trying to develop diverse and creative teaching methods to meet the constant-changing needs of education in such globalized society. It was a great inspiration and challenge to our Malaysian educators.” Many of the participants have found the “coding” methods very practical and asked for longer sessions and workshops to the Institute of APEC Collaborative Education (IACE).
On the day before the last day of the trip, Malaysian participants had an opportunity to learn Korean traditional games and folk songs, and to make Korean traditional fans. They were amused by the cultural activities and expressed that they have gained extensive understanding about Korea.
Such AIV programs have been annually conducted since 2001. AIV was initially designed to bridge the knowledge and information gap within the APEC region by sharing advanced teaching and learning methods and insights. Also, through such exchange, IACE aims to promote continual international networking and cooperation among schools in the APEC region and thereby let the education serve as a basis for both the economic growth and the joint prosperity in the region. In addition, IACE believes that ICT is the prerequisite knowledge for future development. Therefore, the IACE will continue its effort to provide ICT skill and its application in academic learning in following future.
